ReWild — the new Plant Shop

I am a huge plant nerd so naturally (pun intended) I created a plant app for one of my test projects. That seed of an idea grew bigger when I got partnered up with my cohort mate Alisher for our Ruby on Rails project. We created a web app that helps plant owners keep track of their watering schedules.

See a demo of our app below:

We built Plantify with Ruby on Rails frontend and backend. We used mySQL to store data and BCRYPT to store encrypted user information.

Post graduation we wanted to propagate (another pun for ya!) this project and use React.JS on the frontend. The new project will be called ‘ReWild’. ReWild is going to inherit Plantify’s water tracking and plant information and we will be adding a plant shop using the Stripe API to checkout orders and a chat with web sockets.

If anyone has experience with either the Stripe API or web sockets please drop us some tips in the comments. Suggestions are also welcome!

We’re really excited about this project and can’t wait to show the final product!
